Goldsboro - Ms. Annie Rebecca Ward, 70 of 206 White Oak Rd. transitioned Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Wayne UNC Health Care.

" Pumpkin" as she was affectionately called was born in Duplin County to her parents the late Coy Smith and Virgen Smith.

Life Celebration Service will be held Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Hills Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Faison with Elder Liconus "LC" McCaffity, officiating.  Burial will follow in Cobbs Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by siblings, Gilbert Smith and Irene Smith.

Pumpkin was blessed with 3 children: Howard Ward, Barry Ward (deceased), and Nanette Ward.  In addition to her children, Pumpkin leaves behind her 4 grandchildren: Deshaun (Reshika) Barfield, Renota McKay, Tishira Best, and Felicia (Calvin) Williams; 6 great-grandchildren:Laila McKay, Jadorian Williams, Genaro Santos, Callie Williams, Elijah Barfield, and Jah’Khary Olds; siblings, Elder Liconus McCaffity (Annie), Swindell Smith (Bert), Brenda Miller, Consonja Smith, Merian Farmer, Earl Artis, Cyrus Smith, Jerome Artis, Craig Smith (Sherron); special sister, Hilda Ward; special friend, Sandra Brewington; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Viewing will be held Friday, March 24, 2017 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Garris Funeral Home Chapel.  The family will be present from 6:00-7:00 p.m. to receive friends and at other times at the residence.
