Charlotte - Jannie Elizabeth Wooten, 85, peacefully departed this life Friday, March 2, 2018 at her home in Charlotte, NC, surrounded by Family. Elizabeth was born in Wayne County, North Carolina on November 29, 1932 to the late Alexander and Annie Eliza Smith.
She was a former member of Northeast Baptist Free Will Baptist Church and a member of the choir.
After graduating from Carver High School as Valedictorian, Elizabeth moved to Norwalk, Connecticut and married the late Jesse Maryland Wooten. She worked for several organizations before running a successful family-owned cleaning business. Her favorite activities were watching the Golden Girls, reading the Norwalk Hour, and singing Sending up my Timber; but most of all, she liked staying home and spending time with her family.
Elizabeth is lovingly remembered by her four daughters, Linda Hargrove (Tony) of Vero Beach, Florida, Shirley Wooten-Brewer (Levester) of Hartsville, SC, Tracy Wooten of Charlotte, NC, and Tammy Wooten-Miles (Harold) of Clarkston, GA; one step-daughter, Yvonne Baskerville of Annapolis, MD, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and the rest of her family and friends.
Funeral Services will be Thursday at 11:30 a.m. on March 8, 2018 in the Chapel of Garris Funeral Home. Minister Levester Brewer and Minister Timothy Brewer of Wesley Temple United Holiness Church, Hartsville, SC, will be officiating. Burial will follow immediately afterwards at Carver Memorial Park.
