Richard Leo Barfield Jr.

 Garner- Mr. Richard Leo Barfield Jr., was born on March 6, 1962 to the late Richard Leo Barfield Sr. and the late Elizabeth Easterling Barfield.  He was married to Rev. Dr. Cynthia Shervon Barfield. He is survived by three children, Dr. Kaitlyn Moss (Brandyn), Jasmine and Chasity. 

Richard received his B.S. degree from East Carolina University majoring in Health & Physical Education.  He was a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. since November 22,1983 and was initiated in Upsilon Zeta Chapter.  He later joined Iota Iota Grad Chapter 1985 in Raleigh.

He had no brothers or sisters, but his cousins served as his immediate family.

He was an educator for 30 years in the Wake Co. School System. After retiring, he worked for the City of Raleigh Athletics from 2016-2018.

To know him was to love him. He will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched.
