Welcome to the memorial page for

Ronnie Levon Boykin

October 30, 1958 ~ August 17, 2016 (age 57) 57 Years Old

Ronnie Levon Boykin was born on October 30, 1958 to the late Maud Odessa Hickman and Willie Mosley Boykin in Warsaw, North Carolina. Ronnie was the ninth of ten children and is pre-deceased by his parents, his brothers, Danny Ricky and Eugene Eric, and his nieces, Keela Michelle Quinn and Leona Boykin. Ronnie grew up in the Friendship Community of Warsaw and joined Faison Chapel Missionary Baptist Church as a young teenager.

Ronnie loved fishing, collecting antique what-nots, sometimes creating interesting clutter in his home.  He loved to eat and it showed as a youngster.  His favorites were good ole home-cooked soul food – chitterlings, pig feet, pig tails, collard greens, and turnips.  Ronnie attended the Duplin County Public Schools and he loved to work. After leaving James Kenan High School, he accepted a position at Quinn Wholesale Company, where he worked in several jobs but longest as a fork lift driver.  He remained a faithful employee until his health declined.

Ronnie leaves behind so many loved ones to cherish his memory, one of which is his teenage sweetheart and former wife, Mrs. Brenda Joyce Nickelson. He is survived by four sisters: Alene Sandra Boykin-Stevens, Jeanette Boykin-Miller, Brenda Joyce Boykin Quinn, and Phyllis Odessa Boykin; and by three brothers: Lenon Hickman (Donnie), Nelson Wayne Boykin (Lisa), and Dr. Wesley Leopold Boykin. Additionally, he leaves four aunts: Beatrice (David) Williams Miller, Viola Boykin Moore, Marie Boykin Dobson, Louise Boykin James; and three uncles: James Hosea “Pete” (Bertha) Williams, Marion Boykin, Jr, and Johnny Boykin (Regina).  Ronnie leaves a multitude of cousins, nieces, nephews, and many other loving relatives and friends.

A time of viewing and receiving friends will be held from 3:00-3:30 p.m. and from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Garris Funeral Home  Chapel.

The family is requesting every one attending the service to  wear your brightest colored shirts, ties, dresses, skirts, etc., to honor Ronnie instead of the traditional black & white.
