Mt. Olive - Mr. Alphonso Carlton, 80 transitioned from earth to glory Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at Genesis Health Care.
Born in Duplin Co., he is the son of the late Jimmy Norman Carlton and Jessie Mathis Carlton Artis and received his education in the Duplin County School System. He left home as a young adult to follow his love for traveling. He enjoyed talking about his life's work of racing horses and working at the racetracks. Before his health declined, he often enjoyed sitting outside for long periods of time and enjoying watching nature.
He leaves to cherish his memory to three brothers, John (Annie) Carlton, Chris (Sandy) Artis, Jr. and Timothy (Mary) Artis; six sisters, Bobby (Thomas)Sampson, Martha Carlton, Mary Carlton, Betty Artis Wells, Jessie Irene Artis Bowden and Patricia Artis and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he has been reunited with his siblings, Gracie Carlton Brown, James Carlton and Dennis Ray Carlton.
