Athalene (Kornegay) Bass

Mt. Olive - Mrs. Athalene Kornegay Bass, 91 of 417 East Franklin St. answered the Master's call on Monday, January 27, 2020 at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Born in Wayne Co., she is the daughter of the late William and Lila McIver Kornegay and wife of the late Benjamin Bass.

Her love and legacy will forever be in the hearts of her children, Leroy Kornegay (Myra) of Mt. Olive, Dwight Bass of Durham, Danny Bass (Barbara) of Canada, Linda Bass of Durham, Anthony Bass (Cassandra) of Tennessee, Patricia Bass-Nelson (Rickey) of Durham and Brenda Bass of Mt. Olive; 15 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; two sisters, Joyce Kornegay and Sarah Kornegay of Mt. Olive; daughter-in-law, Shelia Bass of Greensboro and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she has been reunited with her son, Arnold R. Bass.

Her humble and kind spirit will be missed by all whose lives she touched.
