Clinton - Mrs. Bertha McKinney , 80 of 712 S. East Blvd. peacefully transitioned from this life Thursday, March 18, 2021 at Brian Center Wallace.

Bertha Bea McKinney was  born January 22, 1941 to the union of the late Dock Phauls and Beatrice Holmes Phauls of North Carolina. Bertha McKinney was also known as "Bert" in the community. She was the fourth child of thirteen children; eight sisters and five brothers. She was also educated in the  Wayne County Public School System.

She dedicated herself to working tirelessly with those who needed special care as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the health care field. Throughout her training, she developed her nursing skills and continued to hold high standards for rendering care and comfort. she took her career in nursing seriously and served the public and private sectors until she retired in 2003. Without hesitation, and whenever needed, she would offer her help and assist with her knowledge, nursing skills, and instincts. She honored and served many members of her family with love, care, and comfort in their time of need.

Bertha McKinney was preceded in death by her brothers, Norman Miller, McNeil, Richard, and Thaddeus Phauls; sisters,  Edna Kornegay, Marylou Phauls, Nannie Mae Fisher and Sarah Robinson.

Bertha leaves to cherish her memory to three children, Iris McKinney of Clinton, NC , Milton McKinney (Kim) of Warldolf, MD, Ronnie McKinney (Collean) of Edgewood, MD; six grandchildren, Brian and Ashley McKinney of Waldorf, MD, Symiara Jenkins of  Brooklyn, NY, Korey, Jayden and Kaliyah McKinney of  Edgewood, MD; four sisters, Christine Bass of Mt. Olive,NC,  Janice Kornegay of Dudley, NC, Barbara Jean McKinney of Mt. Olive, NC,  Dorothy F. Phauls of  Bronx, NY; one brother, Donald Phauls ( Jewell) of Temple Hills, MD; three sisters-in-laws, Ernestine Middleton of  Dudley, NC, Georgia Bowman (John) of  Camp Springs ,MD, and Laura Phauls of Oxon Hill, MD. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

The family has requested, in lieu of flowers that donations be cashed app to $Bmckinneymemorial.
