Carolyn Patricia Ann Horton

Mt. Olive - Carolyn Horton, 78, was born on August 16, 1947, to the late Bloomer Duncan and Henry Byrd in Wayne County.  She transitioned on January 14, 2026, at her home.

Carolyn was the proud and loving mother of six children: Sandra D. Horton Walls (William) of Warsaw, NC, John A. Horton of Georgia, Tina C. Horton of Goldsboro, NC, Carma Horton Hooper (Daniel) of Durham, NC, Tarance J. Horton (Ontwanesha) of Clinton, NC and Terri D. Horton of Pikeville, NC; a special bonus child she lovingly claimed as her own, grandson, Iglesius A. Horton, who held a unique and cherished place in her heart as she raised him as her own; twenty grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren, each of whom she loved in her own unique way and host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
