Kenansville - Mr. Donald Lee  Hobbs Sr., 66 completed his earthly journey Sunday, September 18, 2022 at Cape Fear Valley Hospital, Fayetteville.

Born in Pender Co., he is the son of LeVester and Lucille Hobbs. 

Donald was educated in Duplin County Public Schools and James Sprunt Community College.  After High School, he enlisted in the US Army.  He enjoyed fishing, sports and Gospel quartet music.  He also loved spending time with his family and friends.

Donald joined Adoram Baptist Church at an early age.  He later joined Pearsall Chapel United Holy Church. He leaves behind many fond memories to cherish.

Those left to cherish those memories include his wife, Vennessa Hobbs of Kenansville' one daughter, Sholanda Essery of New Jersey; two sons, Donald L. Hobbs Jr. and Jamar Hobbs both of Kenansville; five grandchildren, Korma Essery, Nazzir Essery, Jeremiah Essery of New Jersey, Jamyrah Hobbs and Jayden Hobbs of Dudley; one brother, LeVester Hobbs of Indianapolis, IN; one aunt, Marie Stallings; an uncle, Benjamin Hobbs of Charlotte. Donald also served as a father figure for his niece, Rechelle Newkirk and three nephews, Michael Newkirk (Rhonda), Timothy Newkirk (Gloria) and Johnnell Murrill; one brother and sister-in-law, Alonzo & Phadra Merritt and a host of other special relatives and friends.
