Mt. Olive - Mrs. Edna Pearl Pigford, answered the Master's call one day shy of her 91st birthday on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at Wayne UNC Health Care.
Born in Duplin Co., she is the daughter of the late Burnice Bass and the late Rosa Carlton and wife of the late Alex Julius Pigford.
She was a life-long and dedicated member of Mount Gilead Missionary Baptist Church, Mt. Olive. She served as a missionary, an usher and on the mother board.
She leaves to cherish her love and legacy to her children, Julius Pigford (Rosemary) of Dudley, Joyce Mitchell of Dudley, Betty Pigford of the home, James Pigford (Annie May) of Fayetteville and Kimberly Parker (Steven) of Dudley; twenty grandchildren, forty-two great-grandchildren, eight great-greatgrandchildren; brother, Richard Bass of Durham; sister, Marie Veal of Philadelphia, PA , nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she has been reunited with her daughters, Linda Pigford and Edna Pigford.
A viewing will be held Friday, September 16, 2022 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at Garris Funeral Home and a wake with the family present will be held at Mount Gilead Missionary Baptist Church, Mt. Olive from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
