Mt. Olive - Mrs. Gloria Strickland, 61 of 1005 S. Johnson St. transitioned Sunday, February 16, 2020 at her residence.
Born in Germany, she is the daughter of the late Hurdie and Voila McPherson and the wife of Len Strickland.
Gloria is most known for her glorifying personality. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Barton College. Gloria worked for Cumberland County Social Services for 21 years. In those 21 years, Gloria was highly dedicated to her work. She was recognized by the Cumberland County Board of Commissioners for her outstanding service to the citizens of Cumberland County. In 2013, Cumberland County Department of Social Services recognized Gloria as the Above and Beyond Shining Star. Gloria was presented with the Social Worker Appreciation Award in 2012 for her dedicated services.
Loving memories will be cherished by her husband of 45 years Len Strickland of the home; three sons, Glen Strickland of Goldsboro, NC, Bennie Teachey of Georgia, William Strickland (Yolonda) of Dudley, NC, and Len Strickland Jr. “Pooh” (Queenetta) of Clayton, NC; three granddaughters, Taniyah Strickland of Mount Olive, NC, Makala Strickland of Mount Olive, NC, and Deonna Strickland of Dudley, NC.; sister-in-law, Doretha Whitfield (Douglas) of Mt. Olive. A host of other relatives and friends.
