Hattie Jones Sherrod

Florida - Rev. Hattie Jones Sherrod, 89 formally of Goldsboro was added to Heavens Garden Sunday, May 29, 2022 at Community Hospice Hadlow Center, Jacksonville, FL.

Born in Ahoskie, she is the daughter of the late Henderson and Nora Riddick Myrick.  She was married to the late Ralphael Jones who preceded her in death in November 1985. Later in life, she met and married the late Rev. Johnnie C. Sherrod.

She was a dedicated employee of Cherry Hospital where she retired in 1992.

Her spiritual life was a testament of who she was.  Rev. Jones-Sherrod joined Best Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend W.C. Horton and was ordained by the Bear Creek Association, October 11, 2003.  Always the encourager, she served as associate Chaplain at UNC-Wayne Hospital through Pastoral Care as well as served as Associate Minister of her church and a Senior Choir member until her health began to decline.

Cherished memories of her love and legacy will remain in the hearts of her daughter, Cassandra Skinner; son-in-law, Ralphael Skinner and two devoted grandchildren, Jourdan and Courtney of whom she lived with until her transition; two sons, Terry Jones (Shelley) of Huntsville, AL and Ralphael Jones Jr. of Woodbridge, VA; 11 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren; two step-daughters, Nona S .Fuller of Fremont and Judy Green (Howard) of Fremont; one brother-in-law, Charles L. Jones of Bowie, MD and one sister-in-law, Ethel J. Graham of Goldsboro; several nieces including special niece, Cheryl Oaten, nephews, other relatives and friends.
