Goldsboro - Minister Jacqueline Faye Waters Morrisey, 55 transitioned Sunday, July 1, 2018 at UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill.
Born in Wayne Co. she is the daughter of the late Wesley Johnson Waters and Rev. Hazel Joyner Waters. Jacqueline was the fourth daughter of five daughters born to this union. Jacqueline joined Burning Bush United Holy Church at an early age, She was educated in the public school system of Duplin County, NC. She received her high school diploma at North Duplin High School in Calypso.
After graduating from high school, she enlisted in the United States Army and completed basic training at Fort Dix, NJ. While serving her country in the military, she met and married the late Joseph Massey, and to this union one son was born, Antione E. Massey. After the passing of Joseph during their tour in Germany, Jacqueline and Antoine returned to the United States.
Minister Jacqueline and Elder James Ray Morrisey united in marriage in 1998. James and his children (James Jr., Christopher, and Jamie), along with Jacqueline and Antoine, merged as one family.
A call from God urged them to move back to Faison, NC. While living in Faison, she attended classes at Mount Olive College (MOC). Jacqueline received her associate degree and was immediately hired at Carver Head Start. Still enrolled at MOC, she later received a B.A. degree in Early Childhood Education. After achieving her final undergraduate , she was hired as a fifth grade teacher in Goldsboro. Jacqueline still felt motivated to be all that she could be for the students; therefore, she entered the master's degree program at Liberty University in Virginia. Jacqueline became the very proud recipient of the master's degree in Elementary Education. She taught and gained respect from her principals, colleagues, and students.
She leaves to cherish fond memories to her husband of the home; a son, Antoine Massey of Orlando, FL; five sisters, Zelma Edwards (Wallace) of Chester, VA., Patricia Jones (Jackie) of Chester, VA, Gloria Preston, (Wallace) of Lugoff, SC, Teresa Anthony (Booker T.) of Fayetteville and Jeraldine Bailey (Allen) of Greensboro and a host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends,
One of Jacqueline's favorite scriptures is Philippians 4:8: " Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."
