Goldsboro - Mrs. Janice Kornegay, 77 was added to Heavens Garden Thursday, August 4, 2023 at her home. She was born December 31, 1945, to the late MacNeal 'Dock" Phauls and Beatrice Holmes Phauls.
Mrs. Kornegay was educated in the Wayne County Public School System. In her early years, she attended Northeast Free Will Baptist Church in Mt. Olive, where she was a member in the choir and served on the usher board, until her health permitted her from doing so. Later, when her health permitted, she attended services at Reconciliation Church of Christ. She was employed for over twenty years at Mt. Olive Pickle Company. She loved spending time with family and friends whenever she could.
On October 15, 1967, Janice was united in holy matrimony to the love of her life, Prince Kornegay Jr. and to this union, three children were born. She leaves to cherish her memory: two daughters, Candias Henn (Scott) of the home, Tillies Kornegay (Earnest) of White Plains, MD and one son, Prince Kornegay III (Melissa) of McDonough, GA; five grandchildren; three sisters, Christine Bass of Mt. Olive, Barbara McKinney of Mt. Olive and Dorothy "Faye" Phauls of Bronx, NY; one brother, Donald Phauls of Temple Hills, MD and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she has been reunited with her siblings, Edna Kornegay, Mary Lou Phauls, Nannie Mae Fisher, Sarah Robinson, Bertha McKinney, Richard "Buddy" Phauls, MacNeal Phauls Jr., Norman Miller and Thaddeus "Dick " Phauls.
