Goldsboro - Mrs. Lenora Stevens, 71 stepped out of life's backdoor Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at UNC Medical Center, Chapel Hill.
Born in Duplin Co., she is the daughter of the late Abraham and Mary Champ Monk.
"Len" as she was affectionally called was a member of Greater Six Run Baptist Church, Turkey where she served loyally as an usher on the Usher Board. She enjoyed crocheting, working in her yard and reading. Her greatest joy was Bible Study and discussing the content of scripture that was in that particular lesson.
The love and legacy that she leaves will be forever cherished by her husband, Joseph Lee Stevens Sr.; four children, Joseph Steves Jr. of the home, Timmy Stevens of Goldsboro, Jonas (Kendra) Stevens of Dudley and Mary Genelle Stevens of the home; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, five siblings, Barbara Murrain and Linda Hand of Goldsboro, Michael (Loretta) Monk of Fayetteville, Abraham Monk Jr. of Raleigh and Jerome Monk of Turkey; in-laws, Isabella McCalop of Brooklyn, NY, Henry Earl (Betty) Stevens of Faison and Christine (Pastor Elwood) McPhail of Clinton. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
