Mary Lois Underwood

Mt. Olive - Ms. Mary L. Underwood, 87 transitioned from labor to reward Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Born in Duplin County, she is the daughter of the late John Edward Underwood and Mable Edwards Reid.

She is survived by two sons, Johnny Underwood and Gary Peebles of Mt. Olive; one grandson, Gary Peebles of Atlanta, GA; two great-grandchildren, Evangeline Peebles and Sander Peebles; one brother, Johnny Reid of Brooklyn, NY; best friend, Nannie Underwood of Washington, DC and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she has been reunited with two sisters, Judy Reid and Bernice Matthews.
