Durham - Mrs. Mary Anna Davis, 89 of 57 S. Angela Cir formally of Mount Olive departed this walk of life on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law.
Service by the graveside will be held Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. at Carver Cemetery, Mount Olive.
Born in Wayne Co., she was the daughter of Theodore and Louiza Yelverton Wooten. Growing up in a Christian home, she affiliated and was a member of St. Luke Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ, Mount Olive. She was also a retired educator with the Wayne County Public School System.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Martell Davis, her granddaughter, Kiara Davis as well as her sisters, Gracie Hook and Bertha Johnson and her brother, Hiawatha Wooten.
Cherished memories will linger in the hearts of her children, Darlene Wooten of Goldsboro, Frances Davis of Mount Olive, Gwendolyn Davis-Daye (Rodney) of Durham and Kelvin Davis (Sheila) of Durham; step-son, Franklin Davis of Dudley; nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren; one sister, Ada Wooten of Mannasses, VA.; a special Goddaughter, Clintonia L. Lee of Mount Olive and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
