Mattie Morrisey

Turkey - Mrs. Mattie Vernelle Morrisey, 89 transitioned from her earthly home to eternal rest Friday, May 6, 2022 at her home.

Born in Sampson Co., she is the daughter of the late Deacon Edward and Mattie MCalop Faison and wife of her beloved husband, the late Deacon Elmon Morrisey.

She loved her family with her whole heart and her spiritual father.  She readily gave her Lord and Saviour praise by mouth or in song. When not in worship, she could be found watching a good western or her court television shows.

She leaves to cherish her love and legacy to three sons, Jarvis (Christy) Morrisey, Hillary (Mazie) Morrisey and Henry (Lorraine) Morrisey; five daughters, Cinda (Maliki) Washington, Anna (Larry) Smith, Valeria (Roy) Holmes, Carolyn (Johnny) Thornton and Rev. Elma Hodges; three youngest that were raised as daughters, Clarissa (Marcus) Green, Asia (Maurice) Williams and Alexis (Charles) Williams; sister, Annie Ruth Smith; 27 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she has been reunited with her daughters, Dora Morrisey and Mary Morrisey; sons, Leon Blue and Sylvester Morrisey; three sisters and five brothers.

The Morrisey Family would like to thank you for your love and support you have shown at this time.  For general information, Mother Vernelle Morrisey wasn't a fan of flowers.  We are requesting on behalf of the family that in lieu of flowers, if you so desire, donations be made in her memory to the Senior Department of First Baptist Turkey Missionary Baptist Church.  Again, the family thanks you wholeheartedly.  May God continue to bless you.
