Oscar Melvin Avery

Faison - Mr. Oscar M. Avery, 90 of 11591 Faison Hwy. went from labor to reward on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at his home.

Born in Sampson Co., he is the son of the late William and Ella Mae Avery and husband of the late Mattie B. Avery.

He was employed at Cate's Pickle Company and retired with 40 years of service.  He was a member of Piney Green Disciples of Christ Church where he served as deacon until his health declined.  He was also a member of Masonic Link Lodge #125 in Mt. Olive.

Cherished and loving memories are left to his children, Keith Avery and Shelia Avery of the home; daughters, Maurice Southerland of Chicago, IL and Jackie Hodges (Reginald) of Warsaw; sister, Lillie Mae Bell of Faison; sisters-in-law, Cora Boone and Magaline Stevens of Clinton; brother-in-law, Robert Stevens (Doretha) of Fort Myers, FL; four granddaughters, 13 great granddaughters, 2 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
