Greensboro- Rosalind Diane Blackmore was born on January 29, 1958, in Duplin County, North Carolina, to the late Albert Parker (A.P.) and Grace Emily Allen Blackmore.
As a child, Rosalind attended First Missionary Baptist Church, in Warsaw, NC, along with her parents, siblings, and extended family. Rosalind was educated in the Duplin County public school system. Once she reached high school, she was a member of the girls’ basketball team. She was a proud graduate of James Kenan High School, as a member of the Class of 1976. After graduation, she moved to Greensboro, North Carolina, to attend North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, where she majored in fashion merchandising/textiles. Rosalind was a very proud Aggie who enjoyed attending annual homecomings.
She worked in various roles and capacities, including working as a substitute teacher, which she fondly recalled. She also worked, for several years, in the library on the campus of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. In addition, she, later, worked for a few years at Timco at the Piedmont Triad International Airport.
Rosalind was a gregarious, feisty, outgoing person who never met a stranger. She enjoyed meeting new people and attending social gatherings. Rosalind had a great sense of humor; she loved laughing, playing spades, dancing, and having a good time with others. As a result, she was well-known and well-liked by many, yet she was a strong woman who never hesitated to advocate for herself and/or others. In her spare time, Rosalind enjoyed spending time with her sisters, listening to music, and fashion.
She rarely missed the opportunity to attend holiday celebrations and gatherings with family and friends. It was also important to her to keep in touch with former high school and college classmates and friends. She had a big heart for others and did not hesitate to be supportive of sick or elderly friends.
After a brief illness, Rosalind transitioned from this life on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Novant Health Medical Center. Rosalind was truly a one-of-a-kind personality and full of life. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
