Shirley was born July 23,1952 in Wayne County, NC. She is the daughter of the late Earl Lee Fennell and the late Gladys Price and wife of the late Eddie B. Stevens.

In addition to her parents and husband Shirley is preceded in death by her siblings, Joyce Faye Price, Pauline Lee, Jimmy Ray Price, Samuel Price, Denise Price, Wilbert Price, Glenda Sprueil, Richmond (Ricky) Fennell, Lisa Fennell, Earlene Shaggy and Earl Lee Fennell Jr. 

She leaves to cherish loving memories to step-son, Eddie Martin; five sisters, Virginia Kornegay (Oscar), Mary Price, Jeanette Smith, Linda Johnson, Delores Price Stewart (John) Dennis Mitchell, Charlotte Ann Burden and Peggy Shaggy; two brothers, Jeffery Fennell and David Fennell; two sisters-in-law, Betty Price and Evangelist Alma Darden and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
