Mt. Olive - Mother Swannie Bell Branch, 95 of 719 Red Hill Rd. entered into eternal rest Thursday, August 26, 2021 at the home of her son.
She was born to Man Wallace and Rosie Lee Branch Teachey on March 19, 1926 in Duplin County and was raised in Scott's Store. From her youth, she was a faithful servant to her home church, St. Stephen's United Holiness Church in Mount Olive where she held many positions including treasurer and mother of the church.
She owned Branch's Barbeque which she built from the ground up along with her first husband, O'neal Branch Sr. She was well known for her cooking and baking skills especially her famous sweet potato pie and cakes. She was very involved in the community serving as lead of the junior missions group at her church, volunteering with the democratic party, and working with Word of Faith to distribute food to the community.
Swannie was the widow of the late John Moses Branch Sr. She leaves to cherish one sister, Linnette Williams (Don Williams);two biological children, O'Neal Branch Jr. and Glenn Branch ( Dawn Branch); ten kids who she helped to raise along with her mother, Rosie Lee. Mary Barnes (James Barnes), Jimmy Branch (Joyce Branch), Joseph Branch deceased (Carolyn Branch), Norman Branch deceased, Thomas Branch deceased (Eliza Branch), Charles Branch deceased, Patricia Nettles (Jeff Nettles), David Branch (Cathy Branch), Daniel Branch deceased and John Jr. deceased, and Gregory Branch, 21 grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren, other relatives and friends,
